Massage Therapy as a health care service, is within the jurisdiction of the Provinces in Canada and not the Government of Canada. As a result, there will be differences in the profession between the Provinces.

Massage Therapists trained in Canada are among the highest trained in the world. Canada, more specifically the provinces of Canada set standards for education, evaluation, and continued practice as a Massage Therapists similar to other professions such as Law, Chiropractic Medicine, Nursing, and Engineers.

Massage Therapy in Canada is considered to be a regulated health care profession in three of the Canadian provinces. The three provinces where Massage Therapy in Canada is regulated:

  • British Columbia
  • Newfoundland
  • Ontario

Some of the other provinces in Canada are currently in process to become regulated.
The  other provinces in Canada have established standards of practice that are based on those in the three regulated provinces.
